Babysits is an online childcare platform, meaning that our babysitters and parents will be in contact with one another. We facilitate communication between babysitters and parents through our platform. Users on our website can contact one another directly with our private message service and plan appointments.

Keep in mind that parents and babysitters are responsible for screening, interviewing, and making their ultimate choice. Babysits cannot accept responsibility for platform users or their actions.

The platform is completely free for babysitters and childminders.

For parents and childminder agencies, we ask for a small fee to contact babysitters and/or childminders.

Yes. The Babysits app is completely free to download from Google Play and the App Store. Make sure to keep up with regular updates as we continuously improve our Babysits app.

Babysits does not screen signed up parents, babysitters, childminders or childminder agencies, but we do regularly check for unwanted content. If we hear about an unreliable user, we will immediately block their account. Furthermore, as we don't screen our users, please be aware that you are responsible for interviewing potential candidates and ultimately making a selection.

To minimize your risk and to ensure your family's safety, we recommend that parents meet potential babysitters before inviting them to babysit their children. Moreover, parents are advised to check babysitters' references and reviews to make the best choice. For more information, visit our tips for parents page.

For babysitters, we also recommend that you meet the parents before agreeing to babysit their children. For your own safety, suggest to the parent that you meet in a public area and bring someone along with you. For more information, visit our tips for babysitters page.

We strongly recommend that users communicate via the Babysits messaging service until they are comfortable enough with, and trust the other user, to exchange contact information and communicate externally to Babysits. Visit our trust & safety page for more information.

Babysits has incorporated many safeguards in the platform, that we improve continuously, to help keep your information secure. If you choose to communicate externally to the Babysits platform, it makes it harder for us to protect your data as our safeguards will no longer apply.

We advise babysitters and parents to verify their ID by confirming their email address, phone number and connecting other online profiles to their account.

We recommend that you use our private messaging service, as we have incorporated many safety measures into the platform to monitor behavior and keep your information secure. While communicating on our messaging service, Babysits can manage and respond to any inappropriate behavior by the other user. If you choose to communicate with other users through an external messaging service, we cannot guarantee that your information will be kept secure. Hence by using alternative communication mediums, you will run a greater risk of fraud and phishing attempts.

Identity fraud occurs when someone makes illegal use of your personal data. Babysits never asks for your personal data. Should an unknown user request your personal data, please report this to us immediately as it could be an attempt at fraud. If you believe you are a victim of identity fraud, inform us and file a report with the police immediately.

Babysits does its best to detect and remove scammers from the platform and respond quickly to reports, but we cannot help you with interactions that happen outside of the platform. Please check out our Trust and Safety page for more information.

For parents

Parents can find babysitters on Babysits through our search page. You can browse babysitters in your area or post your profile so that babysitters who are interested can contact you. Once you’ve found a babysitter that you want to contact, you can upgrade to a premium account.

Parents will need to upgrade to a premium account to contact babysitters. You can upgrade to a premium account via the upgrade page (after registration).

If you would like to cancel your premium account, you can easily do so on the account status page. Please be aware that when you cancel your premium account, a final payment collection might still take place. This is because we collect with a delay. For example, if your new month just started last week, it may be that the monthly fee for the month will still need to be collected. However, no new term will be charged.

If you have any days left on your premium account, you can of course still use the premium services for these remaining days after the cancellation of your premium account. If you are still having trouble with cancelling your premium account, please get in touch with our customer service.

When you have found a babysitter, you can easily schedule an appointment with the babysitter. You can schedule an appointment by going to your inbox and clicking on the conversation with the babysitter. On the left side, you can click the “plan babysitting appointment” button to schedule an appointment.

Yes, even after your premium account has been cancelled, you can still message new babysitters within your contract period and even when expired you will always be able to continue conversations that you started with your premium account.

Approximate hourly rate: On your profile, you can indicate average hourly prices for a babysitting appointment. Childcare providers can do the same. However, this is not a fixed rate and you are always able to negotiate. Expected rates will change depending on factors mentioned below.

Consider your requirements: If your child requires a lot of attention and care, you should expect to pay a higher rate than usual. Keep in mind that you will also have to pay your babysitter more for looking after multiple children as this will require more effort and energy on behalf of the babysitter. We advise you to sort out the payment details before the babysitter starts babysitting for the first time so that you are both aware of what can be expected.

Consider the age and experience of a sitter: When arranging the hourly rate, you also need to consider the age of the babysitter. For instance, a 21 year old student would expect a higher rate than a 15 year old student would. Keep in mind that the minimum wage also varies between these ages. To determine an hourly rate for your babysitter, you can base the amount on the national minimum wage.

Childminders and Nannies: A childminder or nanny can decide themselves on how much they will charge you. These professionals must be paid at least minimum wage. Parents in some countries are eligible for a subsidy based on the maximum hourly rate.

When you hire a babysitter for a babysitting job, you don’t need to arrange a contract. However to make the babysitting experience smoother for both parties, we suggest filling out and going through our intake form.

It can happen that you have a negative experience with a babysitter. We’re sorry to hear this. If you have contacted the babysitter through the Babysits messaging system, you can leave a review about the babysitter. In any case, we ask you to report the babysitter via the customer service. Babysits will then be notified of these reports and will take any action that may be necessary.

For babysitters

To babysit, you must be 13 years or older. Therefore, a minimum age requirement of 13 years old applies at Babysits. You must ask for permission from your parents if you are under 18 years old.

If your profile appears at the top of the search results, parents will find your profile with more ease. To increase your search ranking, you can do two things: 1. Complete badges. 2.Use the platform and check your profile regularly. The goal of the badges system is to foster a community of motivated members by favoring the highest quality and most verified profiles.

If you want to apply for any babysitting jobs posted online on Babysits, you can contact a parent by going to their profile and clicking on the “contact” button. Please keep in mind that you will need to have an active profile to be able to contact the parent.

When you have an active profile, parents will be able to contact you by sending you a message through our messaging system. We will notify you once you have received a new message. You can go to your Babysits inbox to reply directly.

Babysitters set their own hourly rates for babysitting, based on their qualifications, skills and experience. The hourly rates may also vary according to the amount of children you babysit, the duties required and the location of the babysitting job. In the end, it’s up to you to negotiate hourly rate with the parent.

You make agreements about the payment with the parent. Babysitters don’t pay us any commission and keep all of their earnings for themselves.

It’s up to you to organize your hours and negotiate your availability with parents. In your edit profile page you can indicate your availability under the “availability” calendar. Simply select the times, for each day of the week, you are available to babysit. On parent profiles, you are also able to see what times they are looking for babysitting services.

It can happen that you have a negative experience with a parent. We’re sorry to hear this. If you have contacted the parent through the Babysits messaging system, you can leave a review about the parent. In any case, we ask you to report the parent to customer service, via the parent’s profile page. Babysits will then be notified of these reports and will take any action that may be necessary.

Your profile is a great way for others to learn more about you. When you include a clear profile photo featuring your face, it creates more reliability and trust. Parents are unlikely to contact a user without a profile photo.

Unfortunately some parents may not always respond to messages. This however differs from user to user. There is no way in which you or us can force them to respond to a message. Before messaging you can see how long it usually takes a parent to respond to messages on their profile page (when the data is known).

Account

If you have forgotten your password, you can request to reset your password. You can click the “forgot your password” link located under the log in box. After you enter your email address linked to your account, we will email you a link to reset your password.

You can easily delete your account at any time. Simply log into your Babysits account and go to the settings page. At the bottom of the page, click on the “delete my account” button. This action will also remove your profile from our platform. If you are a parent and you have a premium account, this will also be canceled.

To help other users on Babysits to find you more easily, we’ve made your activated profile searchable. This means that your profile will also be included in search engines, like Google.

Don't worry, if you delete your profile from our platform, then it will also be removed from search engines. Please note that search engines do not update all changes to pages every day. It can sometimes take up to 4 weeks before your profile is entirely removed from search engines.

To hide your profile, log in to your Babysits account and go to your edit profile page. Click on the “hide profile” button.

On Babysits, canceling the premium account stops your automatic payment, and hiding your profile makes your profile invisible to other users.

If you have any days left on your premium account, you can still use the premium services for these remaining days after the cancellation of your premium account. After your premium account expires, you still retain access to your Babysits account on a free account, including the ability to continue any conversations you had started and access to your transaction details. If you would no longer like to be charged for a premium account but would like to continue having access to your account, this is the best option.

Please note: starting and canceling your premium account can only be done from a web or mobile browser and cannot be done through the mobile application at this time.

Hiding your account makes your profile invisible for other users. This action does not cancel your premium account. While hidden you can continue any conversations that you have already started with other users.

Firstly, check that you are signed in to your own country’s platform; you are never able to enter addresses which are located outside the country you are logged in to. Secondly, please ensure that you are using the correct format for your postcode. Thirdly, if your city is not in our database, please contact the customer service so we can add your city or town.

Contact information, such as your address, email, phone number, and social media accounts, will never be displayed or shared with third parties or other users. We use this information to verify who you are, provide accurate search results, and contact you, if necessary. It is entirely up to you to share any contact information with other users.

You can unsubscribe from Babysits email service on your dashboard or by clicking on the unsubscribe link in any notification email. Please note that currently the function to unsubscribe is available on the Babysits website accessed on a desktop or mobile web browser, and is not featured on the Babysits mobile application.

You can change your password by navigating to the settings page. Enter your current and new password, then click on ‘save’. After this, your password is updated.

Currently it is not possible for users to independently change their account type. If you accidentally signed up as a parent and meant to sign up as a babysitter, or vice versa, please contact the customer service. We will correct this for you.

If you don’t receive emails, notifications or messages from Babysits, we would recommend checking your spam/trash folders. Further we would recommend checking your dashboard to see if you are subscribed to the email service.

At Babysits, we follow a Fair Use Policy. This means that we have imposed a limit on the number of messages that a user can send in order to prevent spam and any other misuse of the messaging service.

Our goal is to achieve a trustworthy community in which users only send messages to other users when they are actually interested in the proposed service. By limiting the amount of messages that users can send, our hope is also that users will send better quality messages.

We can reset your limit if you contact customer support. We will first review your account to see that you aren’t spamming and then reset your limit.

It is not possible for users to independently merge their accounts. If you have multiple accounts that need to be merged, please contact the customer service. We will merge them for you, so that all messages you have received or sent will be in one inbox. Be sure to include in the message the email addresses of the accounts that you want to merge and the email address of the account that you want to keep using.

If you have not received a verification code, we advise you to request a new code via the verification page.

If you want to hide a conversation with a user, you can simply click on the archive button in your inbox. It is not possible to entirely delete a conversation.

Babysits allows users to report content on Babysits that violates our Terms and Conditions and Community Guidelines. To report a user, you can go to the user’s profile and click on “report this profile”. You will then be prompted to write and send a report. Babysits will then be notified of these reports and will take any action that may be necessary. Reports are confidential, meaning that the user you reported will not be notified of your report.

Reviews and references

Different than with references, you can only leave reviews for users you have been in contact with through the Babysits messaging system. To leave a review for another user, you will need to go to your inbox. You will see a review-button if you have contacted the user. When you click on the review-button, you will be redirected to the review page. You may choose to write a review anonymously.

To edit your existing review of a user, simply go back to your inbox and click on the review-button. This will take you back to the review page, allowing you to update all aspects of the review including the rating and the written text. You cannot delete a review for another user, only edit it.

If you want to immediately view other users' reviews about you, you will need to write a review for them as well. If you haven’t and don’t want to write a review of the other user, you will be able to read the review on your profile after 14 days.

You cannot currently delete or hide reviews that others have written for you; this would make the review system pointless. You can ask the user to edit their review of you, but there is no way in which you can delete a review. You can always comment on a review from your own profile page simply by clicking the comment-button. If you feel a review is inaccurate or inappropriate, please contact customer service. We will evaluate your request and take appropriate action.

You can request a reference from your personal network, and the references will appear publicly on your Babysits profile to help other members get to know you. You can invite your friends and family via the reference page to write you a personal reference.

If you have previously worked with a babysitter who is using Babysits, but did not find them through Babysits, you can still write a reference for them. The babysitter will need to send you a request to write a reference. Please note that we will automatically create a free account for people who post a reference.

You always have the option to ignore references, so that they are not made visible on your profile. You can ignore references simply via the reference page, and then clicking on the ignore button next to the reference.
